CONCERT DESCRIPTION
In cooperation with Chicago Opera Theater and the Chicago Premiere of Philip Glass’ opera Perfect American, Fourth Coast Ensemble presents a concert highlighting the life of Walt Disney. Chicago-based recitalist and two-time Piano Fellow at the Tanglewood Music Festival Matthew Gemmill joins the group on this program, weaving quotes and stories of Walt together within an art song format.
Featuring Nonsense Songs from Alice in Wonderland by Liza Lehmann (1862-1918) and selections by contemporary American art song composers Juliana Hall, Daron Hagen, and John Musto, this concert offers a touch of whimsy, nostalgia, and fantasy.
