Commissioned by the Walt Whitman Birthplace for the “Whitman on Film” Project with support of the Billy Joel Foundation in 2022, this work for solo voice consists of a call and repsonse between composer Hagen, who created the notated calls, and co-composer / vocalist Lyons, who improvised the responses. The work was conceived as a multi-media project for filming by H. Paul Moon. The film was rehearsed and shot in a single continuous steady-cam take on location 28 January 2022 at the Church of the Messiah in Rhinebeck, NY.
